Expected changes to the drink drive limit

This year the drink drive limit in Scotland and Northern Ireland is expected to drop from 80 to 50mg per 100ml of blood.

If you or your drivers are caught drinking and driving you risk a fine of up to £5,000, a minimum 12-month driving ban and a criminal record.

But more importantly, by drinking and driving you risk your life and those of your passengers and fellow road users.

There is no guaranteed way of knowing when you are close to the limit. Alcohol tolerance can vary from person to person dependant on a number of factors such as age, weight, gender, and even whether you have eaten recently or not.

So, the simplest way to remain safe...

Don't drink and drive!
